At TMS we:

  • Consult regularly with persons accessing our services to ensure they have opportunities to provide input regarding accessibility.
  • Take measures to identify, remove and prevent barriers to persons served. These measures are documented when identified.
  • Create an Accessibility Plan that includes a list of measures that TMS is pursing to address any identified barriers.
  • Review and update the plan, at least annually, in conjunction with other plans (Strategic, Financial/Budget, Systems etc.). Strategies developed and implemented to remove any identified barriers are recorded.
  • Invite staff members, persons-served and stakeholders to participate in the annual review.
  • Provide education opportunities to our employees, volunteers, and others (contractors) who deliver services.
  • Support staff who, through volunteer roles, assist other organizations (e.g. Special Olympics, Alberni Valley Continuing Care Society, PFLAG, PAACL) to continuously advocate to remove barriers.
  • Continue to explore opportunities to partner with other agencies to overcome the ongoing financial barriers that smaller organizations face (e.g. training).
